Length: 1 minute

EXTRAS:

Old version, rough cut

---

daisy was a restless girl
who hadn't slept since she was born

because inside her sleepy head
a strange disease took form

a dozen dizzy mini daisies
would burst out of her brain

a dozen daisies grew out of one
they'd scream and shout and rage

they bled and blahed, and kept her up
daisy thought she'd lost every mind

until one good night
when she shot all herselves
and shut every mouth and eye

---

Derek's commentary:

Grandma was taking a written driving test in chinese. While waiting, I randomly thought that the idea of someone shooting themselves in the dark was particularly sad. Daisy grew from there! Insomnia and mental illness are favourite themes of mine, and infected the thing shortly after.

This was the first non-comedy animation I made, which by itself made the project difficult. On top of that, I wanted to try a different visual style for it. So I'm kinda surprised I ever finished Daisy, but I'm happy I did.

(P.S. Phil does a semi-Vincent Price impression here in semi-honour of Tim Burton, who has definitely been an influence on at least some of the things I do!)
